HILL BARN GOLF COURSE has a thriving Ladies Section and prides itself on being friendly and welcoming to all standards of players.

Golf Competitions

Ladies golf competitions are generally held on a Tuesday and Saturday. The main day for competitions is Saturday and the alternate day is Tuesday, both with reserved morning tee times.

Friendly competitions are organised against other Clubs in Sussex and are played during the week and at the weekend. The Section puts forward a strong team for the Daily Mail Foursomes, Sunday Mail Match Play and the County Competitions consisting of the Morrice Fours, Kathleen Rider and Jerdein Memorial. In recent years Club members have reached the final of the Daily Mail Foursomes.

Social Events

The Section holds several social events throughout the year and these have included a meal with prize giving after the Club Championship, Ladies Invitation, a golfing holiday, Captains Away Day, skittles evening, dinner and dance and Christmas meal.

Several fun competitions take place, the most popular being the Sparrows Texas Scramble followed by breakfast and the Irish Medal where teams of four play with just one Club each.

Mixed events are organised and these range from greensomes and foursomes competitions with an evening meal afterwards to the University College Cup where drawn partners play in greensomes format. One of the most supported events is the Wooden Spoon where the Ladies play against the Men with the loser receiving the Wooden Spoon.

Charities

The support of charities is very important to the Section and competitions are run to support Breast Cancer Care, Macmillan and the nominated charity of the Ladies Captain.
